MOST IMPORTANTLY: PLEASE ENSURE YOU FOLLOW THE  PROMPTS ON YOUR DEVICE AS PER THE STEP BY STEP PROCESS WHEN USING THE CHARGE POINT.


In order to start a charge with char.gy using the App, please make sure you have logged in to your account first. (If you haven't yet created an account then you can do so by following the guide linked here). You can use the char.gy App without having set up an account but please note this requires a pre-authorisation charge via Apple Pay or Google Pay (you can find out more here).


Please find the charge point you're using either via the char.gy ID (located on the charge point) or by searching using the map function.  


  1. Once you're on the charging page, you will either need to log in if you have an account or authorise a charge using Apple Pay / Google Pay as described above.
  2. After either logging in or authorising a charge with Apple/Google pay you should see a message prompting you to Connect cable to the charge point. At this point, plug the cable into the charge point.
  3. The charging page should then say Preparing and ask you to please plug the cable into your car. When you have plugged the cable into your car it's extremely important to remain on the charging page. Do not close the app. Please wait until the charging page says Charging along with how many kWhs you've currently used. Until you see this, the car is not yet charging.
  4. When you are ready to finish charging please click the Finish charging and release cable button followed by Yes - finish the charge. The charge should finish and the cable should unlock. If the cable does not unlock, please refer to I can't remove the cable from the charge point.
  5. Please exit the app.
