We are now trialling a new option for Char.gy customers : the ability to reserve a charge point!
Introduction to charge bay reservations
Char.gy customers can now place a Reservation on a charge point for up to 15 minutes prior to your arrival at it's location. As part of this trial, there are some specific rules in place at this time :
- Reservations can only be made by customers who have created a Char.gy account and have an active payment card assigned to it
- Reservations can only be made via the web browser, Reservations cannot be made through a roaming partner app or the Char.gy Mobile app.
- The trial is only active within Coventry, and only at charge bays that are marked out as being for EV use only. (64 charge points are available for reservations within the trial)
- You can only have one Reservation active at a time, and are limited to 4 Reservations a day. Your reservation allowance will reset at Midnight.
- You can only place 2 reservations on the same charger within 24 hours.
- Reservations cannot be scheduled in advance, the 15 minute block will commence as soon as the Reservation is placed.
Reservations are placed free of charge, you will not need to pay anything in relation to reserving the charge bay.
How to make a Reservation
To make a Reservation, you will need to ensure you are logged in to your account, and then access the Char.gy website through your mobile browser and navigate to the charger map. Once the map has loaded, locate the charger you wish to reserve, and open it's listing. You will now see at the bottom an option to "Hold for 15 minutes".

You will then move to this screen outlining how the reservation works, and asking you to confirm you wish to proceed with reserving the charge bay. For more information on bay availability, please review the What if the charger is currently blocked? section further down in this guide.
Once reserved, you will be returned to the charge point page, and will see a banner positioned at the top of the page showing the remaining time left on your reservation. The charger will also show a status of Reserved. When the timer reaches zero, the charger will become available for others to use again.

What if the charger is currently blocked?
You may receive a warning prompt in the event we can detect the charge point you are looking to place a Reservation on has a cable plugged in, but no charging is currently taking place. If this is the case, the prompt will offer you the option to look for an alternative charger, or to continue with the Reservation.
Whilst this trial is only available for charge points that have dedicated bays, we cannot rule out that a charger could be blocked, and we are unable to accurately warn of this beforehand (this could be due to a non EV using the bay for example). In the event that you do find a bay blocked, either by another non charging EV, or a non EV, please report this via our partners at ChargeSaint.
Cancelling a reservation
If you no longer require the reservation, you can cancel it by selecting the remaining reservation time bar at the top of the screen, and selecting Cancel reservation. This will put the charger back into an available status. Please note that cancelling a reservation still counts towards your daily limit and charger limit.
